Never got a manicure before-help!!!?

So, I got this gift certificate for a nail salon, but i've never been to one before. On the price sheet thingy, it says "french designs $3+" Does that mean three dollars (min.) total, or per finger, or per hand? Someone help me!!! It also says "French designs 5+" what exactly is the difference. i'm kinda clueless. i'm not a spa/salon person.
